He doesn’t have a lot of buddies on the council, if he has any at all. Fortunately, there are at least three better qualified applicants. It’s going to be really embarrassing for him when he doesn’t get this job, just like he got passed over for a job in the Moore administration.
Why would he apply if he had not already had these conversations? The only hope I have that this is not a set up is Craig Rice not getting the job. But fair is never fair in Montgomery County and I could see a bizarre scenario where Raskin could be pushing for him or something for TKPK homerism.
I have to admit that watching him try to belatedly brown nose Moore was hilarious.
If Raskin liked him then he would have endorsed him for CE. The fact is that nobody can stand the guy and the other applicants have more relevant experience and education.

He wanted the housing secretary job and even wrote a column filled with misleading info about his “accomplishments.” When Jake Day was selected for that job (because his record on housing was actually good), he tried to get the transportation job which was even more of a reach. Riemer’s only professional planning experience was overseeing planning when he was on the council. How did that go?

He sucked up hard, including being a co-host of his “birthday party” for donors at Camden Park. That’s after being the only prominent local politician to sit on the fence for the primary. The local establishment endorsed former colleague Perez. Reimer spent the last few years sucking up to Franchot (and Trone). He had no prior or obvious links to Moore but blatantly tried to buddy up to him post election.

Why did he run for county executive when that was always a lost cause? He has no shame and if you could house people in his ego there would be no housing shortage. Fosselman and Harris have a lot of friends on the council too.
The job is way bigger than affordable housing so no way they give it to Harris.
I agree that Fosselman has a lot of friends and relevant experience, but he just got appointed to run the Bethesda service center and the core issue that is obvious is that you cannot have a politician in that job. Whatever Fosselman’s experience and qualities, he’s still a politician even though he could be a more of a consensus building candidate because he’s friendly with Elrich and the Council.
Riemer on the other hand is so nakedly self-serving that everyone knows that he would try to use Planning Chair as a platform to run for office again. There are enough nakedly ambitious people on the Council that I don’t think they would allow that to happen. And that’s the main reason why I don’t think they will give it to him.
Planning Board chair is a full-time job. If the Council appoints him as chair, he will stop being the Bethesda regional service center administrator.
Or are you saying that regional service center administrator is a "politician" position? It's not.
It’s not common for people to get new appointments and then get another appointment six months later. But… in his short time there, it would have afforded him the opportunity to get to know better all of the key players in the county’s supposed development crown jewel.
