Look at us, in addition to our local mansion, we have a vacation home one of the proles in our social media friend group can give us thousands of dollars to use when we don't feel like driving there. And the families we know doing this are actually nice, so it's bizarre how tacky and obnoxious they are in this regard. And no, they're not over-extended. It's just greed, I guess?

Social media is a dream for people that like to brag and show-off. Who cares, let them brag. Talking sh*t about your friends behind their backs because they post all their luxuries on social media is equally as tacky IMO. And they aren't even jerks, you said yourself they are nice people.
Tell us you moonlight as a landlord and/or Airbnb scumbag without telling us.

It's insane. Why wouldn't OP simply unfriend or block this "friend" if she is so triggered?

I wish I owned an AirBnB or had any rental property. But I do own a home and I've only got 5 more years until this baby is paid off! Anonymous wrote:Not tacky, except if it becomes excessive, but I would hope that if anyone is interested, they at least get a discount for being family/friends who will take better care of the place, and more importantly, saving your friends hugely on airbnb/vrbo commissions.
I think the more interesting story is that vacation rentals are struggling right now. And I'll bet your friends are finding that occupancy rates are way, way down.
