Lantana. It can sometimes come back, depending on winter conditions.

Lobelia, liatris, monarda are perennials. Some varieties of salvia can also be perennial depending on their hardiness.

my favorite annual is vinca. Many pretty colors, flowers like crazy, no deadheading required! In my garden, it seeds not in a invasive way but I'm expecting free vinca to start coming up soon!

Coleus! Knee-high, showy, come in a million colors, and deer hate them. Nice for protective borders around beds. (Bigger and showier than marigolds.)
