If adjusted for homocides only (as opposed any and all firearm fatalities including suicides, accidents, FL is 21st and CA 31st.

So statistically you are safer from firearms in CA vs FL.

For comparison, DC jumps to the top in the country (together with AL, LA, MS, and MO)

Lowest for homocide: All of New England, HI, and ID.

Statistically much so, yes. There is data to support this now, although certain forces have worked long and hard to suppress clear data about everything and anything related to firearms. That said, I was surprised, too, but CA ranks much lower on gun related deaths vs. Florida. However, FL is equal to MD, so….

It's permitless concealed carry in Florida, not open carry. We don't have open carry in Florida. You can decide if you think open carry or concealed carry is more dangerous. A lot of the venues your kids will go to already do prohibit firearms - but enforcement is going to be very difficult.

These are rates, so that is not an accurate average. It's not clear what the correct result is, but I think the no permit would go up and the no CC permitted would go down, given the more populous states and how they compare.
Also, I feel the labels are wrong here, as WV, WY are where you do not need a permit for CC.

The law in Florida is CONCEALED carry without a permit. Not open carry-that is not legal.

I live in Fl and have a permit (I do not carry though) and, while I think a permit should be required-I have not seen an impact from the new law.

Nope. The post to which you are responding is my first post in this thread and clearly was written directly to the OP to show that I commiserate with his/her sentiments. I will not be responding to you further because:
a) your question to me is intrusive, i.e., it is none of your business where I live
b) your last comment to me was rude and life is too short to deal with random anonymous, hostile people

Enjoy your future vacations in FL and I'll enjoy mine in CA and other states that don't allow concealed permitless carry!
