Another good example, this PP loves this stuff and I wouldn’t want any of it. I think if the registry is complete just do books and/or gift cards. This would all just be stuff I’d have to dispose of. Not that the thought doesn’t count, of course it does.

Def understand not wanting a sleep sack but you have to have a thermometer, especially if the baby is going to daycare. If she didn’t register for one, the one I linked is used by pediatricians and very easy to use. If you don’t have kids, you may not think to register for one. They don’t let you go to pre school or daycare if the temp is above a certain number (and of course you need it yourself bc kids spike fevers and the nurses like always asks if you’ve taken a temp when you call the sick line. So I would still suggest a thermometer plus gift receipt if a thermometer wasn’t on the registry.

Actually it worked great for us, and got us going to museums, which wasn't something we'd done since moving to the area.

A science museum seems like an odd gift for a family with a newborn. It's something they'll get a lot more use out of a few years down the road.

Huh? The CSA sends fruits and vegetables to your door. Means if we couldn't get to the neighborhood farmer's market, we still had our produce for the week. It was LESS work for us.

There isn’t a single item mentioned in this thread I’d want for my baby. That’s the danger of non-registry gifts. Uber Eats/Doordash is the best gift.

Books. And not just baby books but ones for like 2 and 3 year olds with a message from you inside. Fresh high quality crib sheets.

Socks. There is no such thing as hand me down baby socks because one of every pair is always lost. High quality baby socks are really useful. And you can never have too many books.

We got five baby blankets with my kids name on it for our youngest. Such a waste and I couldn’t even pass them on to other kids. One had both first and middle name and they were spelled wrong.

Did the registry include a thermometer? I use our Braun Thermoscan ear thermometer all the time. I think it’s about $50. You can start using it at 6 months of age and I’ve seen it at multiple doctors offices. It’s the best! My vote would be this thermometer, with an extra pack of covers and maybe baby Motrin if it’s in budget. And a gift receipt.

Another random things I loved that could be part of a $50 gift was the Weesprout fabric car seat cover (can double as a nursing cover and comes in cool minimalist patterns). If she doesn’t have a car seat cover on the registry, these are great for covering an infant at the Pediatirican or in crowded public places or if they just need to nap while you’re out and about.

Books or uber eats. There is so much baby gear that you use for a short time and we have a small home. Our circle does a lot of hand me downs.
