You fly or she flies over every 2.5-3 months per year? I don’t believe that.

Some people are wealthy, dear.

I am wealthy and still do not believe that you and your daughter do that.

While we are not in that situation - kids still in college - I can promise you that DH would be on that plane every 3 months if work/life permitted.

As a Fulbright scholar, she may have responsibilities that don't allow her to leave her host country. Also, they're a limited term, so it's not like this is a permanent situation.

My cousin has lived in Asia for some time. She speaks to her parents via FaceTime every Sunday. I have no idea how often they text, but I would assume frequently. They see each other probably three times a year. She comes here, they go there and then they meet somewhere like Hawaii or europe.

DP. Said by someone who hardly ever crosses the pond. Business people make 5 trips to Europe in a 3-month span (ask me how I know). The PP's response is leisurely in comparison

This isn’t a business trip when visiting family. “Ask me how I know.”

Why would it be any more difficult than landing from a red eye and going straight to 8 hours of meetings and a 3 hour dinner?? Youre beyond riduculous

Overseas, not out of state is what op asked.

East coast to West Coast is almost like overseas.

Lol. No.

I was the adult child living overseas. I went to grad school in the US at 21, leaving my European home behind. I've always called at least once every week. We see each other about once a year on average.

I'm sure helicopter parents visit more than others.

I am the person withe the daughter in the UK (not the person with the snide wealthy remark). As I said, sometimes we fly to her and other times she flies to us so that's just twice a year for each of us. I don't see how that is excessive, particularly given that lodging is taken care of.

That make sense. The one with the snide remark was not truthful and just being a snot.

So not overseas.

I’m not wealthy but find it odd somebody would doubt this. Flights to Europe can be quite cheap if not travelling at peak times. I could absolutely imagine taking an overnight flight on a Thursday and returning on a Sunday or Monday.
