I personally would not drop it, and I don't know what to make of her response because it's vague. Does she mean "yeah, lol, I have just had the most insane week of my life that resulted in me moving to Wisconsin"? Or does else mean "yeah, lol, life is weird oops I didn't mention this to you my bad"? Like I would follow up and try to find out which it is because I feel like it's one of two things:
(1) My friend is having some kid of crisis/emergency and I'd like to support her in whatever way I can, or
(2) My friend is a selfish a$$hole and I'd like to know so I can start working on forgetting her.
I would not leave it at "yeah, lol..."

OP back with an update. Our girls are in 5th grade, so I'm confident DD got things straight. DH was surprised too. I hung out with my friend (one on one) a week and a half ago. She mentioned nothing. We talked about trying to firm up summer plans and vacations and such. We talked about the books we're reading, Love is Blind, all normal things.

For all you know, something horrible or embarrassing prompted the move. Getting fired, alcoholic parent declining, imminent divorce, etc. Maybe she just needed to get out and get on with her life ASAP.
