A friend worked there. It was due to ownership/management not really knowing how to run such a business. The demand was there, but they failed when it came to execution.

Isn’t it just called the Bier Baron now?
I haven’t been to know if it’s the same, but still has lots of beers

My condolences! There was the restaurant "Food for Thought" that was a lot of fun. Also, Burrito Bros. There was a little market outside the metro entrance with an Afghan man, his euro wife and child selling Asian trinkets. Paul/Sunshine sold fruit and flowers at the stand next ton then. There was a bead shop (bedazzled?) That stayed open inexplicably for years. Cosi. The record store. Too many comfort ones shoes (like one on each side of the street). A movie theater and a small safeway. And the "compliment man" (world's most cheerful panhandler). Also, Larimers market. Yeah, I've lived here toooo long. I'm trying to recall the French restaurant. Can picture it, but not the name. Be well in your loving memories of your dad.

I was thinking the Italian place might be Al tiramisu on P and 20th? That’s been there forever. You go down steps to get in, I think.
The French place I remember was in georgeotwn and was something simple like Le Bistro or something. I don’t remember if it was in a standalone building though.

Was the Italian restaurant Galileo on P Street on the west side of the Circle?
