It really surprised me when brickskeller closed — they were really unique and it was always crowded. And it’s not like fancy beer has gone out of favor — I think it’s more popular now than it was 30 years ago.

A friend worked there. It was due to ownership/management not really knowing how to run such a business. The demand was there, but they failed when it came to execution.

First place was an Italian restaurant on the basement level. My best guess is this was towards the Foggy Bottom side of the circle. We also ate at a very very fancy French restaurant in a standalone white townhouse. this was probably more like 35 years ago nad was probably not in Dupont.
