NP. It is bizarre. Never in our practice would we induce for visiting family. Visitors don’t get a consideration in our medical decisions.

I get it. It’s really down to when baby is ready unless you have medical intervention. Even with all the homespun methods. Keep doing everything you’re doing and get some bodywork too. You could add evening primrose oil capsules at bedtime. Or chance castor oil clear out…but that’s awful and doesn’t always work. I’d go for acupuncture again and lots of sex.

I hope it works out for you, OP. Ignore the preachy a-holes on this thread, most people I know were trying natural induction techniques once they hit 39 weeks. In fact, when I had my last baby my practice pushed hard for me to have an induction at 39 weeks, saying that it was medical best practice (ended up being a moot point, as I went into labor on my own). I would not try castor oil, but no reason not to try the other things mentioned here. Good luck to you!
When I had one of my children, I didn’t get induced till after 40 weeks. Pushing to induce at 39 makes no medical sense unless there is a medical issue. Babies are due at 40 weeks, this is nothing new.

Putting the word “natural” in front of something doesn’t mean anything. I had an induction at 39 weeks, it’s not like I’m opposed to induction. But either do it with your doctor’s blessing or don’t.

That is not a reason to force the baby to be born when it isn’t ready. You are not overdue. How incredible selfish and inappropriate.
People have babies everyday with no support person. You are ridiculous. My husband had no leave whatsoever and we lived out of state with no family or friends. Get over yourself.

+1. Breaking my membranes helped me to start with my first two and I’ll ask again for my third. I believe they will only do this after you reach 39 weeks and you need to be 1 cm dilated at least.
Haha - thank you, I knew I wasn’t calling it the right thing but couldn’t think of the word. Membrane sweep! Yes I believe this helped kick my body into labor all 3 times
