If you do a crew neck for less than 12 months, it needs to have a button at the neck imo. No one wants to squeeze over an infant head.

A friend knitted some open front sweaters for my kids. She did 18 months- no buttons and 1 had a cute hood and another a cap. Passed onto GC.

Personally I think a pullover sweater with crew neck is better. Then they can nap in it. And no buttons, I don’t want any possible choking hazards on their clothes

No one is hating. This is a nice idea but a hoodie is a strangulation risk for that age. Knit a nice cardigan instead.


A knitted hoodie doesn’t have strings.

Everything is cute and wonderful, but if I’m going to make a sweater I aim for the second winter. It’s just cuter when they can walk. Especially a cardigan I think. A squirmy baby is going to shift the buttons too much.
