Am I the only one who is quite amazed at how ballistic OP went with berating her SIL simply over free hotel snacks?
Sure SIL doesn't seem like she has a lot of EQ to read the room, asking for more freebies, but (to me) that doesn't warrant yelling profanites multiple times and getting her thrown out of the hotel after it happened.
OP, perhaps you are embarrassed that you got caught by the hotel with freebies you weren't entitled to, and that embarrassment carried over to your anger?

Yes, OP’s behavior was injuring her friend’s reputation too. If I was staying in the next room and someone was yelling that kind of language I would have complained to the front desk, so she was really out of line too. Same for the parking lot argument. I don’t go on trips to hear people fight. Pot calling the kettle black here.

I'm amazed that OP thought she had the authority to call security and have her brother's family thrown out as a guest herself. The whole group could have been thrown out by the GM.

I'm trying to understand why you even invited her in the first place if she's always been this way. You really screwed up. If I were your friend I wouldn't trust your judgment on this going forward.

How was SIL behaving with the front desk? Was she being rude? Maybe she didn't know it was a special perk from your friend and thought the basket was part of the resort package.
