God you are all a bunch of incredibly rigid bores. OP, I would have been dying laughing and trying my best to keep it together. That is the sort of family story that you kids and their cousins are going to be rolling on the floor laughing about at a family gathering in 75 years when we're all dead and gone. Hopefully the gas is under control tonight, or that the rest of you are able to let it pass in peace!

A 7 year old giggled and people are surprised? Kids are amused by body noises at that age.

Many elderly people really can’t control this at all- try to have some compassion and please stop asking if they need to use the restroom. That’s just treating them like a child, they likely know they have uncontrollable flatulence and can’t help it without you reminding them.

The only one I can understand bringing any attention to it is the 3 year old and you should use this as a teaching opportunity- others should already have better manners. It’s not always easy but try to let it go and refrain from drawing attention to it.

Maybe keep a small bottle of essential oil in your pocket to spray discreetly or light some scented candles.

OP, I work with the elderly and many can't hear or feel gas passing. He may not even know.

I'd get little noise poppers and put them by the kids plates. Every time he toots they get to celebrate!

Has he had a cholecystectomy? I have and it's impossible to hold flatulence in. Embarrassing and I take two GasX every morning and two at night. It's just one of life's curve balls.

Some people can’t help it. My sister in law does it so often she doesnt even realize it. She’s 50 and a school teacher. She said the kids get used to it after a month or so. She has stomach and digestive issues. At least they didn’t seem to smell.

I only wish that was the biggest stresser at our seder.
