About 10. My whole friend group are those I’ve known since middle school.

Two closest friends are from HS. Well one of them I have been best friends since we were in 2nd grade. We see each other once or twice a year. We do a friend vacation (we are in DC, CA, and CO). We also have a group chat that we talk almost daily. We are very different people but we have always been close.

Four close friends who are scattered around the U.S. We talk and group text regularly. I see one of them at least once a year, and the five of us try to get together every few years. I'm in my mid-50s. Grew up in the midwest.

I never lost contact with my closest friend from childhood (predating high school). He lives on the other side of the country and when we see each other, which about once a year, it's like we just spoke yesterday. Others, I didn't have any contact with at all until Facebook came along. I'm FB friends with several of them, but we don't really interact except to exchange birthday greetings and the like. If I find myself near where they live, I may or may not see if they want to get dinner or something.

Haven't seen just about all of them since graduation night, except one who went to the same college as me. Elite private school, class of 80.

My girl gang of 6 friends. We live scattered all over the world but we chat on WhatsApp several times a week and try to meet up in person every few years. Contact was more sporadic before the advent of social media but we always kept in touch. I graduated high school in 1991.

I am really close still to one friend I MET during HS but we were not in school together. We're both now mid-50s

I'm still very close with 2 high school friends. I have a group of about 8 that get together yearly for a girl's weekend. Other than that there are about 5 I don't see often but still consider good friends. I keep up with and am facebook friends with probably 20 others at least. I do not live local to where I went to high school and neither do most of my hs friends.

I had a graduating class of 70, all girls catholic school. I'm facebook friends with most of them probably. I just looked up one of them at random and we have 55 friends in common haha. Factoring in that some are probably not on facebook we really have stayed in touch shockingly well.

Of that 70 I have a group of like 10 that I am in regular contact with. I was in two of their weddings, and attended another one of their weddings a couple weeks ago. We have come apart and back together over the years, some people drift in and out of our group, but it is like, almost more like family then friends.

I am in contact with almost no one from college (and I did have a really tight group in college) weirdly. I think it just takes some special sauce of circumstances but I think I'm pretty unusual.

We're all talking about planning a big trip to turn 40 in a couple years!

I'm Facebook friends with about a dozen of my high school classmates. I did see one about four years ago when I was visiting the city where she lived. I moved around a lot as a kid. So I don't have any connections with childhood friends. When I was in college, my mom moved away from the town where I went to high school and so I didn't stay in touch with my friends from high school either.

My DS, on the other hand, is a local and is still really good friends with two of his best friends from elementary/high school. They both stayed local as well. They were in each other's weddings. Our children are all around the same age. We get together with them all the time.

Class of ‘88, dcum area HS. Tight knit group of 6, friends since
1/2 met in sixth grade. We’ve been in each others weddings, attended funerals of significant others and family members, vacation all together when we can. Interesting to note that 1/4 of us have no social media presence so we communicate the old fashioned way: via text.

We are geographically distant. Takes some work to gather in person but instead of trying to get all 6 together we visit each other or travel together in pairs when we can.

I’m 45. I text with a group of 3 other friends at least once a month. Pre covid we met up every 3-4 years. We live abroad, HI, Seattle, and here so it’s hard. I talk on the phone to 2 of the 3 whenever one of us is having a hard time and the third is amazing about sending flowers/cards and I know she chats with others but she and I don’t really talk.

That said I tend to be a “connector” and have a lot of friendships that I’ve maintained. Usually in little pods of 2-5 people. And I will say that I’m often the one sending the initiating text. Then everyone pipes in for a day then we go quiet for a month. Not always me but often. Friendships take effort.

I am 50. I have two friends from high school I still meet up with every time I am back in my home country. I had more but the others have fizzled.
