Unpainted relatively short clean nails.

Agree with pp who noted that we should all be looking for adequate sick leave for all workers across industries but especially in food.

Service slows down if they washed their hands properly every time they should be washing up.

I struggled to eat donuts for a long while after working at a donut shop. The baker had a band-aide on at the start of shift, but it could not be found later.

Who, exactly, do you think polices this?

And men are much less likely than women to wash their hands after going to the bathroom!

The people who make the food are usually not the same ones who clear the plates off the table.

Asking as a server....would you prefer your female server to have beautiful fake nails, a manicure, or just unpainted nails? Does it matter?

I worked at a restaurant in college and there were some nasty *** employees. Some of the waitresses would blow their nose in the back really quickly and not wash their hands. They’d come to work sick with contagious illnesses. I’d call them out for being gross and then they treated me like I was an uptight Karen.

100% this. You're lucky you don't see what's going on in the back of the kitchen. Some of you would never eat out again. Some of the back of the house people are disgusting.

I remember calling one out after she blew her nose and not washing her hands, then touching guests' drinks and plates, and she argued that she did wash her hands. Gross people don't think they're gross. They certainly won't admit it.

Starbucks employee handed me my coffee and her nails looked like she was a junkie. Dirty and so gross. I threw that coffee right in the trash.

Do you think she dipped them in your coffee?

She touched the sides, put the top on and put the stopper in the hole in the top. I don't want obvious narcotic addicts touching my food. If you do, knock yourself out.

We wash hands all the time. I can't hold a glass or a plate if my hand is greasy from cleaning up. My hands are dry from all the washing.
