Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine is right next to VT's campus, and there are some mutual deals between the institutions.

Also, the college has its own volunteer rescue squad, so there are lots of opportunities to get in some clinical hours while sticking an NPA into a drunk.

We’re a big unc family - alums and all. But even I would say VT makes more sense for the kid. You’ll figure out the clinical
Thing and save $ for med school.

The first sentence and the double major comment is separate from the rest. Any student should be doing the other activities, OP. Either have relationships that make it easy to do this at home in the summers, or go to a school where it’s easy to do this in the school year and the summers.

VT being in a remote place, will the students get clinical or volunteer opportunities easily? How does it compare to UMD or GMU?

Some of these schools may have higher numbers because students are reapplying because they did not get in on prior attempts.

Completely agree. I don’t have personal experience to share, but our neighbor’s son was a Neuroscience major at VT and is now at Hopkins for med school. They rave about his experiences at VT.

This with our DK working at Yale lab while applying to PhD programs in biochemistry. Amazing lab experiences, publishing etc from VT. Stanford was also impressed with DKs experience.

Especially in a VT thread - there must be a bad signal to come and say “VT duh - Go Hokies!”

The question is between VT and UNC pre-med - people are going to give their opinions. Or were you not aware?
