Senior applied EA to several schools - got into all of them except one where was deferred. Fell in love with one of EA schools during early 2023 visit so withdrew deferred application and put down deposit at school in January. Has been stress-free ever since. Highly recommend Early Action (Early Decision is nice if you can afford sticker price and have a top choice - but not many can make that plunge). At the very least it's nice to have a couple back ups that your kid likes in case they don't get into dream school.
My kid did this to every school who offered it and I too expected to be done months ago. I was not mentally prepared for the bulk of the apps turning into deferrals and having to wait until RD for a decision.

My son was admitted to 5. Visited 4 for Admitted Students' Day. Down to 2.
I'm voting for one over the other but he's really torn.

He can get internships etc in Boston

Take him on a trip somewhere very very cold to simulate the bulk of the time he'd actually be there.
LOL. We've actually made December trips to Boston the past two years. Unfortunately both times the weather was very mild. I can certainly see why an 18-21yo would be excited about school in Boston.

Admitted 7, WL 4, Rejected 4.
Narrowed the admitted schools down to 3 top choices. DC did admitted student visits at 2 and doing the 3rd in a few weeks. Really loved both schools we visited last week. However, told me last night she is 99% sure she would like to commit to one of the schools. So I think we may be done and we will cancel the 3rd admitted students day. We are going to discuss in depth tonight.

Our child was accepted ED, but has many friends hoping to get off wait lists. Most have a back up plan, one is talking gap year and trying again

Rejected at his reach which was his "dream" school. We were expecting the rejection so he did focus on finding another school he'd be thrilled with.
Waitlisted at UVA and VT and accepted at W&M.
He was also accepted at four other schools. He had eliminated two based on visits earlier this year. He did an admitted student event at the school we thought was going to be his #2 - he had done research via their website, went to a local admitted student event and it seemed to cross off everything he was looking for. But the visit to campus was a huge disappointment so he crossed it off the list.
His last school is my alma mater. He only applied because it was a free application, and a rolling admission school we figured he'd get into with decent merit aid. We did the admitted student event because he hadn't heard from W&M yet and he needed a school if he didn't get into W&M. I love my alma mater so I'm biased but we were blown away by the admitted student day. It's now a strong #2 and he's not making his decision until visiting W&M in two weeks.
W&M is rated much higher academically, but the #2 offers some unique academic opportunities. I think he'll choose W&M, but he may surprise me and go with #2.

We ruled out A as being too expensive
She ruled out B as being too close (30 minutes away)
We visited C today for the first time and she really liked it.
We are revisiting D on Thursday for a second time.
Hope she makes a decision after that!

Accepted at 4, WL 2 (incl top choice), rejected at reach. Holding out hope on WL but actively digging deeper into the four to make a decision by May 1. Will remove themself from WL on June 1 if no news by then.
