Its their job to spread what they think is salvation. Just tell them you ain't in market for a new religion. You hardly use the one you were raised with.

I know someone who listens to them, then tells them that she's not superstitious and shuts the door.

We’ve had them over at our house. Strangely there are a lot of Russian JWs.

JWs are pretty organized. They probably had you down as a “missed” house.

I live in a large coop building, so we don't get door to door JWs, but somehow they obtained my name and address, and sent me a hand-written note inviting me to some worship event, along with a little pamphlet about Jesus. Straight to the circular file!

I've been living in my house for 20 years and we've never had any religious group stop by--no Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, or even the church down the street inviting us for Vacation Bible School. I feel unwanted.

I think they sometimes target particular groups. The last two JW visits I've received were by missionaries who share my native language and barely speak English. And it wasn't Spanish, which is common enough in the US for it to be a total coincidence.

This is what I do too. The rare times I've interacted with them they've been perfectly respectful. Actually, I'm polite with all the solicitors that come to my door because I don't get that many, so I'm not overwhelmed.
I do, however, get annoyed with the police fundraising on the phone because they always call at dinner time - I pick up then hang up without saying a word.

I don't feel compelled to give people who show up at my house uninvited any time. Don't feel like you have to be "polite" and listen to them. Showing up uninvited to another's house is rude. Trying to push your religious views on others is rude. Going to neighbors houses to get them to give you money is rude. That person at your door is the rude one.

As important as it is to be polite, you need to make it clear you aren't interested. A couple JWs visited after we moved into our new house. My wife was too nice with them and they stopped by about once a month. (My DW also found ways to be engaged with something else when they came so I had to listen to their rap) During COVID -since house visits were out of the question - one of them even paid a service to find my phone number. They're very aggressive.

It could be Micromarketing they are good at that.

When they ask if I've read the Bible, I say that I started but got put off by the incest and rape between Lot and his daughters.

I always tell them I left the baby in the bath tub and need to go (while shutting the door).
