DoorDash includes the tip in the offer but you don’t know how much until after the delivery. I know the base pay they pay so I decline low paying orders or orders where I won’t make close to $2 a Mile.

UberEats pays more but DoorDash is aligned with more restaurants in my area than Uber.



After depreciation of your car and all expenses isn’t better to get part time job.

This is important! Because if the tip raises the base pay, it can make or break one’s order. But you are saying you receive the promised base pay and then the tip, interesting!

I don’t work in areas where parking is an issue just for this reason. I am far more suburban.

One area was offering a peak pay or surge price of an additional $3 on top of the base pay to lack of drivers. I did it for an hour with my spouse and said no thanks. Too many drunks on the road and scary areas.

I never think I’m entitled to tips but I am performing a service so you don’t have to pack up the kids, get out in traffic, unpack the kids, go into the restaurant or wait in a driver thru.

I leave a card with every order thanking them and encourage them to leave a rating and feedback.

In 2.5 hours this am, I did 10 deliveries with a peak pay bonus from 7:30-9:30 and made $84. I need to check my miles later.


You can make more than that by donating plasma and you don’t have to put miles on your car or go to strangers’ houses.


And have cuts all over your arms?

They do this with personal pick up to-go orders too. I know they see it as a good thing, but it’s annoying. I usually want to run in and pick up my order; but unless it’s bouts time and they’re making lots of batches after one another, it’s a 3+ min wait just for fresh fries. They do give you a LOT regardless of size you order though, since they cannot save the rest for the next person.


I actually stopped going to five guys and go to elevation instead because of this. Give guys is much better, but I hate waiting for the fries.
