Ugh NO. Tweezing will make ingrown and harder to address later. When she’s older she should get electrolysis or laser.

She can get laser now. 9 years old is not too young.

I would not allow my 9 yr old to get laser just yet. Maybe 15+

Threading is great for eyebrows and other parts of the face, but the lip not so much. Unless making your kid cry is the goal.

This worked great for me.

Plucking hair from above the lip seems a rather cruel way to remove hair from anyone let alone a 9 year old. There are cold wax strips that should work well for any peach fuzz over a kids lip. Give her an advil beforehand to help with any swelling.

I would try a women’s facial razor at first - they’re pretty easy to use and she can do it 100% by herself after practicing with you a few times. The Flawless Finishing touch is a good one or even a regular old dermaplaning razor.

I got a wax warmer and I basically used Gigi hard wax for sensitive areas like underarm and bikini line. I also used cloth strips to wax legs and arms. Threading for upper lip and knuckles, bleaching for face and back.

I had a set up at home and I would do all her beauty treatments in under 30 minutes every week. We were deep conditioning the hair, face and body mask etc. My kid was in the swim team with kids who did not have a dark hair on fair skin problem. Once a week care took care of problems before they arose.

Once I had removed

Right. No cuts, no pain or irritation.

I cut them in half lengthwise so the strips don’t land on my cheeks. I am very fair so I use these strips at night, and hold any ice cube to the area to lesson the irritation.

It’s good that you are allowing her this, and sensitive to her preferences. Definitely the right call.

Personally, I leave anything on the face/hair- including brows etc- to experts so would ask for recs at your own salon or call/take her to a waxing place/salon and see what they recommend. I’m not good with things like this and I figure won’t cost much more, by the time you buy a bunch of drugstore products that may or may not work well.

It's gentle, does the job, and no sharp edges like a razor. I liked it so much I got one for myself (and getting the link for you I see they're 20% off at Target right now with pickup so may get another one in case one of ours dies). Like you, I waited for her to raise it. I'm low-maintenance (like extremely low) when it comes to beauty stuff but she wanted to do something about it. Maybe she'll do something more permanent in the future, but for now this is working well for us.
