DD accepted to only Oxford with a 1540. Likely won't go unless aid is really good. He had Rice, BC, and Wake Forest. Rejected main campus, waitlisted Vanderbilt.

Or there are just too many well qualified valedictorians applying, as to any top school, which is the more likely reason!

I think people are just disillusioned and felt like Emory is the "attainable" top school but it isn't and they're still in the denial phase.
