Yes, that's the alternative and probably what we will end up doing. I don't at all mind a day to myself to wander around Boston!

Teens’ frontal lobes are not yet fully developed, and there can be a group think mentality when they are all together, for better or for worse. My 18 year old son is very mature and responsible, yet I’ve been gobsmacked by some of the dumb things he’s done that I wouldn’t have thought him capable of. I just think it’s risky.

I would accompany her and find something tomdobehike she is at the event. I’d also stay overnight, just to make it less exhausting.

I would go with her. I'm guessing the event is related to the interest they bonded over? Go and scope it out, meet the kids, then say I'll meet you at the airport. Space within reason.

If I knew the friends personally yes. With what you are describing I really don’t know if I would or not. Have you talked to any of the other parents?

My 16-year-old would not have been ready for this but I definitely was. Have you considered the train instead?

Can you fly up together - let her do her thing - and meet up again to fly home.
Give her the opportunity to be independent - and you enjoy a day of being a tourist?

If you want her to end up in a child trafficking situation go for it.

Have you met these friends? If not, no.

If you have met them in person I'd let my kid go. I'm pretty laid back with my kids but there's no way I'd let them go without meeting at least a few of these friends first.

Yes. She has zoomed with them (cameras on). It's a really nice group of teens and young adults who have bonded over a very niche interest.

That’s very different than you meeting them in person.
