Take the vacation!! The schools promote kids who can barely read and have poor attendance to the next grade, they aren't going to kick out op's kid for saying they're going on vacation vs out sick.

No need to teach your kid how to lie. Being honest will help them get assignments ahead of time and know what to expect. Tell the teachers now and remind them at the end of May.

I would be fine for this for 7th grade. For 8th grade I'd want to stick around for promotion, school dance, signing yearbooks, etc.

It depends on the school. Get in touch with the teachers. Our student had tests worth a largish percent in two classes the last week of school - French and math. Plus some in class group assignments that counted for less, but still may ding the grade a bit. Maybe the teachers will give you the work ahead of time? But, some schools / teachers do give work the last week.

Last week is mostly about getting missed assignments in.

"Mostly" - do check with the teachers.

OP here. We're not going to lie.

Thank you! I always wonder why kind of lesson parents who lie are teaching their kids. Kids are listening and picking up on “it’s ok to lie when it suits you”.
