You know, I started to write a post how most software engineering jobs cap at 120K.
But then decided to look at the parents in DDs grade in the most expensive private school in our area.
In DD's PE class which is one of the larger classes there are
- 1 teacher parent
- 1 lawyer
- 1 pastor
- 1 company president
- 1 gov contractor program director
- 3 people in tech - VP, Product Manager and a startup founder
- 1 orthodontist
- 6 doctors
I can count in other classes, but trust me, most of them are doctors.
The plurality are doctors. Plurality.

Lawyers and lobbyists are overpaid.

My bf is a cardiologist with a specific specialty within cardiology. Yes, my friend lives a comfortable life in DC but is not living the life you describe. And my friends' student loans are on another level!Anonymous wrote:Regular pediatricians and family docs are not insanely rich, actually. Just the specialists.

OP. You are on DCUM. Many of us live in 1m+ homes and go on international trips (some of us, including myself, are international and have family abroad!). Most very wealthy families in the US are NOT doctors, just because it's hard to reach that level if you're a doctor. There are very few families who buy haute couture for their kids.

that’s a load of bsAnonymous wrote:OMG, OP. Doctors also had to work in person through the worst of Covid. They deal with a-holes like you day in and day out. I have a ton of family members who are doctors and they deal with a lot of bullsh*t on a regular basis. They work incredibly hard and very long hours. They deserve the high salaries they get. You sound incredibly jealous and kind of a b_.
