Did you see how Congress was hostile and rude to him? Did you see how many times he was interrupted all while trying to keep calm and sane despite the rude AF questions, not to mention the glaringly stupid ones? I mean, these are people who know nothing about the internet, yet they'll be making decisions on how Americans should use it. I'm shocked; and I'm even more shocked that they can quickly come together in a bipartisan manner to focus on TikTok but somehow can't agree on gun reform Like these people care about kids, my ass.
Am I supposed to fee bad for a Chinese company operating in the US in market segment where US companies are banned in China?
I don't care about TikTok, the company. Care about the 150M Americans who use it, some who get a ton of good from it, including making a living from it. It's the only app where people can actually get raw, unfiltered content that hasn't been massaged by the media. This is about freedom of expression and speech, and interestingly, the US government doesn't want us to have that. I don't see the outrage for Facebook/Instagram who have tons of data on us. Where's their outrage whenever a school shooting happens? I wish they could come together just as quickly to actually do something about that.
You should. A Chinese owned company controlled by the CCP. And, you think it is "unfiltered?"

The internet is not some unmanageable landscape. And this BS about how they cant control what is viewed or produced or available is exactly that, BS.
Wait. You actually think it's one app's job to moderate the entire internet?
I'm going to suggest that Facebook, instagram, and Twitter have way more misinformation than Tiktok. Tiktok is probably one of the better social media apps when it comes to filtering content. That's part of the reason Meta is spending so much money trying to take Tiktok down. Tiktok is doing it better and has made facebook/instagram even more irrelevant.

Did you see how the CEO evaded questions? Did you see how his responses weren't an "answer" to the questions asked of him?
You haven't seen too many hearings if you think he was interrupted. Often times, he tried to respond when he was not asked a question. Other times, he was attempting to filibuster with irrelevant details.
And, in terms of their knowledge of the internet..... we have lawmakers who know nothing about firearms, but will be making decisions regarding those. We have lawmakers who have never been to war or have no family members who have been to war, yet they are the ones who declare war. We have lawmakers who know nothing about meteorology, but think they know enough to pass laws dealing with climate change.
I would argue that they know a hell of a lot more about the internet than other topics that they pass laws about.

All my DD gets is videos on failing classes, skipping school and or classes, vaping, and then dancing videos.
The videos presented on a user's "For You Page" is curated based on what the app thinks the user will like based on their past likes and interactions. So, if your DD has liked or interacted the most with videos about failing classes, skipping, vaping, dancing, that's what she will get. Tell her to interact and like more videos on books and science![]()

Her feed is telling on her.
She’s engaging with those topics and therefore Tiktok has learned that her interests lie there.
My Tiktok feed is 100% books. I engage with book content and that’s what Tiktok knows I like.
Anyone familiar with Tiktok kind of laughs at people saying all they see is sex and drugs. You’ve told the app that’s what you like by watching those videos completely. If you scroll or hit “not interested,” the app stops showing you those kinds of videos.
Talk to your kid about what she’s engaging with. I tiktok is reacting to her behavior.
