Subject: What’s the point of living alone!
No one else, and their drama or irresponsibility, is dragging down your life. It's on you. The bills are yours. A healthy daily schedule, no excuses for it not happening. Once you have your sh*t together, as an adult, then you are strong enough to be relied upon, to share your life with a life long partner.

I never did live alone. I had roommates in college, roommates in DC and then I got married in my late 20s. I wouldn't change a thing. I always 100% had the house decorated my way and cleaned my way (my roommates knew this and didn't mind. I owned the house in DC).

Depends on the person. My parents were highly critical and constantly fussy, nothing was ever good enough; there is no way I could continue to live with them at age 22+ and have a good relationship with them. The financial savings weren't worth it.

I'm an introvert. When I lived with my parents and sibling, I was always going off into my bedroom to read or dance or just be alone. When I was an adult with roommates, I always got so excited when they'd take a trip, or otherwise be away from home and I'd have the place to myself. I hated having roommates. I love living alone. I work from home four days a week and on the day I go into the office, upon getting home I am completely depleted for two hours. Pre-pandemic I didn't realize this wasn't normal for others. I did not feel socially isolated in 2020 or 2021. I THRIVED.

I'm assuming you're talking about a young 20 something and not a more settled adult child?
I would have loved to at some point but when I first moved out of my parents house I was in NYC - there was no living alone. So I had roommates and then DH.
I would have loved the experience of living alone. A place that was really MINE. Pick up my own clutter on my own schedule and not worry about someone else's clutter. Have guests on my own schedule and not deal with someone else's. Decorate the way I like without someone else's stuff. It's a rite of passage and a learning experience.

I can understand living with a romantic partner or family but few wants to voluntarily live with roommates after college. Its an affordability problem.

I moved out of my parents' home at 19 and since then, have never had a roommate or housemate, nor have a lived with a partner. I'm 55 now.
