Who goes to a production expecting everything to be historically accurate? The purpose is to engage and entertain, not depict all 'truths'.

Hamilton is dead, the only thing left is the story we tell in order to infer meaning into our lives.

+1 agree on both the bio and the musical.

I love Hamilton but can understand why others wouldn't; however, I don't feel I need to insult them the way some of them seem to want to insult the show, Miranda, fans, etc.

I think some of the more nastily negative reacations to it, from the start, have been reactions to its huge popularity and cultural ubiqity for a while there--not really reactions to the show that's on the stage as much as reactions to the show being talked up by others.

This story was presented so creatively and with such a diverse cast that it drew in an audience who normally would not be terribly interested in early Smerican history.

There was so much genius and creativity throughout the show.

Same, the play made me aware of the important role Hamilton had. I actually enjoyed Ron Chernow's biography of Hamilton more than the play.

My sixth grader’s class is studying the American Revolution now and the majority of the kids approached it with great enthusiasm, and some background, because of Hamilton.

So I’ll take it, inaccuracies and all.

We saw it when it first came to Kennedy Center. It did not live up to all the hype. I thought it was just okay.

Because he is incredibly important to US history and had previously very little attention.

This was ground breaking at the time and my kid like many others became much interested in US history because of it.

The muSic is headache inducing. Have no clue why people liked this musical at all.

I'm among the people who are underwhelmed by it. LMM is absolutely an incredibly talented with a real knack for writing catchy music and some of the original cast were just so unbelievably talented and it helped catapult them.

I guess I care less about the historical inaccuracies than I just didn't love it. I think it's really uneven and drags in parts, especially the second half. The biggest flaw, I believe, is that there is not enough humor and what is there is too smug and self-satisfied (others would call it "brash and confident" but I said what I said).

But there's some brilliance there, too. Not least the choice to make Burr the more likable and compelling character of the two foils. Though that's colored by the fact that LMM was, I think, a poor choice to play Hamilton in the original production. He has troublesome habits as a performer and does far better writing music and lyrics for more skilled performers.

Musical, not play. Good grief, He got your researching Hamilton didn't he? The main things he got right: Immigrant who came here, fought against the British, Became the first Secretary of Treasurer, Had a lot of flaws and an affair and was murdered by Aaron Burr. Plus it was entertaining.

NP here. Technically a musical is a play- it’s a musical play. You’re thinking of what is technically called a straight play. Both are plays.
