I have 3 kids and we will have conflicting spring breaks. At some point, I may have 3 kids at 1 public and 2 different privates so may potentially have 3 spring breaks, 3 different start and end dates.

We send our kids all to the same school so that they have the same breaks. The people I know who don't do this don't travel over spring break, and of course complain about it even though it was their choice.

We have this now with one in elementary school and one in preschool. We're not traveling. We just split time for our older one during her spring break for one-on-one days with me or DH. We went downtown, to the library, out for breakfast, watched a movie, played board games, baked cookies, had a play date with another friend on break, etc. Good staycation activities.

We reserve our family vacations for winter break overlap and summer break.

I cater to older kids first. I pulled out youngest to go on trip for older kids. One year, I stayed in destination longer with younger child while Dh flew back with older two kids.

I think one year I visited my parents with youngest for her spring break.

Dh has flown with one kid so he wouldn’t miss school while I few with 2 younger kids. We have left one kid home with BIL.

Right now all my kids are on the same school break.

Leave the kids that are in school with a babysitter

We are pulling our 7th grade out for two days to do a 4 day trip.

Same. Even when I did have the same spring break as my kid, we never did anything other than a day trip. Most people don't do anything.

We don't travel.

But this year I've twice arranged for favorite relatives to visit during this time, so that it feels different, and so that there are more people around to engage the kids who are off from school.

My three kids are in middle school with two different breaks. Next year we'll have three calendars. All are too old to miss lots of school.

Plus my husband has an inflexible job and can only take off certain times of the year.

We pull the younger 2 ES kids out 2 or 3 days earlier short week anyway bc it's Holy Week for the Catholic schools) so it overlaps with the 2 HS siblings who are in public school (week prior to Easter).

It's easier for the younger kuds to miss than my 2 HS kids to miss school.

Otherwise we'd never have Spring Break vacation.

This is so sad but will happen to us when my oldest goes to college. We tend to take our big nuclear famiy trip at spring break since we travel with extended family in the summer. I guess maybe we will move it to Christmas but I dread those prices which make Spring Break look cheap.

I'm shocked how many of my neighbors send their kids to different schools and the schedules are all messed up. That would not work for me.

We have that dynamic, with one in middle school and the other in high school. The older one was invited to go to New York for a few days with a friend who was an only child. We have also traded off spring breaks with close family friends in a similar situation, ie taking their child. Day trips or staycation with parent is fine; we travel in summer and over winter break. It's easy to feel like you need to head out of town but it is not necessary if it is not going to work for you and your fsmily.

Between the teacher I'm married to and the two kids, we have three different spring breaks. We don't travel during spring break, the kids are too old to miss a full week. Each kid gets a low stress staycation partly with one parent, partly with grandparents.
