You'd need to enroll elsewhere even if holding breath! They won't reach out until after this first deposit deadline....and sometimes not even until closer to the final "on the hook for full tuition date" of June 1.

Isn’t that date May 31?

NP, but ours is June 1. It might vary from school to school so anyone concerned should check their contract.

I would call admissions but not sure why it is Sidwell or nothing? Really? There are many great schools.

I have a kid on the waitlist, who is very smart, tests well on SSAT’s, all standardized tests, and makes all A’s in public school. I hardly ever see him doing school work at home though and I am scared to send him somewhere that is requiring 3 hours per day. We accepted at a school I suppose is 2nd tier or top 10/top 20

Is the Sidwell waitlist moving this year?

Sidwell definitely denies/rejects applicants.

Sidwell definitely rejects. One of my child’s classmates received a rejection letter, not a WL letter.

I think most of the kids who get in go. We know a number of kid admitted this year and all but one didn't get in anywhere else so they are a lock for Sidwell.

We were told Sidwell rejects

Maybe, maybe they take one or two kids off the waitlist in a year.

This is not true. Most of the families we know were rejected vs waitlisted.

We know multiple families that were taken from WL for 9th. All before the Jun 1 deadline.

Our strategy is to get her excited about the backup school, while trying to remain hopeful and stay in contact with the first choice. I am not even telling her getting off the waitlist is an option because I know it will be tough/unlikely and don't want round two disappointment if she isn't one of the 1-2 percent who might get off. I would recommend rallying around the backup.

At Sidwell it might be more like .5 to .75 %.

GDS does not have an actual waitlist. They put everyone on it
