MrBeast and PewDeePie have more subscribers than most shows have viewers. The viewers aren’t all 12 or 15.

I feel the same. I've been watching the Maryland family It's The Donnellys channel since it was called Flippin' Katie and featured 8 yo Katie showing offer her gymnastics skills. Both Katie and the oldest Brennan are now in college. They still appear in in the YT videos when home on break and Katie is somewhat active on TikTok.

I started watching back then with my DD who was also in gymnastics.

They're raging Trumpers involved in Young Life, which is well known to be a cult. It's like they moved to Florida and decided to let their christian cult flag fly.

It doesn't bother me -- I don't feel entitled to their content -- but it can definitely feel like a void if it's someone I've kept up with for a while

Same!

I think the YouTube channel did a number on their family, unfortunately. They lived in Annapolis when the channel started.

*Oops wrong person! I was thinking of the LeBlancs. They knew the Donnelly’s. The LeBlancs live-streamed their teen son’s funeral.

Sure, but life happens--what're you going to do? I'm also disappointed when favorite shops or restaurants close, but these things happen.

I have a variety of travel and sailing youtube channels that I watch when I drink my coffee in the morning. It's a comforting routine and I'll admit that I get invested in their lives. I haven't had any of my favorites quit yet, but I would completely understand if they did. It's hard to stay mentally healthy and do Youtube. It's also hard to quit because they've invested so much work and time into their channel and most likely won't be able to make as much money doing something else. I think many of them feel like there is no way out. Look what happened to van lifer Lee MacMillan, very sad.

People who are saying stuff like “are you 12?” are clearly old and out of touch.

I actually watch several youtubers who do shorts ( equivalent of toktoks) series of funny skits. I can see why long form content on tv struggles for views and why netflix gets a lot of one time viewers but still loses money.

i love youtube and it probably takes over their life to keep churning out videos. But if they have more than 5 million subscribers they are making huge $$. Beats working.

No, what did bother me was when. YouTuber I liked revel was that he supported Andre Tate. Bald and Bankrupt that is. Considering they both are in Eastern Europe it made me realize that he is likely involved in human abuse and perhaps even trafficking.
