Being a Monroe scholar is a pretty big deal. It definitely gains you a bit of jealousy/respect from the more competitive students, although many will not care. I can also tell you that the research they do with professors is pretty legit - just read my Buddys paper who identified a legit possible method to help Alzheimers patient. I wouldn't really see any reason to drop out - if you're kid is smart enough to get it I'd bet they can handle it, especially at a school with such a supportive faculty.

Thanks for the link. Monroe Hall will be closed for renovations during the 2023-24 school year. Wonder where they will house Monroe Scholars?

Many Monroe Scholars opted for other dorms in the past. They didn’t all live in Monroe Hall.

Why did they opt for other dorms?

OOS (MCPS) 4.0/4.71, 1570. Lots of athletic ECs, no significant leadership or community service. Probably very good recs. Visited but no interview. Emailed AO once to introduce himself and briefly explain what he loved about W&M.

There is a lot of shifting happening right now, as freshmen & sophomores remain to stay guaranteed on campus. Dupont Hall for example was opened to freshmen (which is nice, it has AC and suites).

Correct, and you would already know if you were in the running for those.
