mine had all 4 impacted and had a light anesthesia that is still considered general. We got some special injection we paid extra for that makes pain less likely. It was worth a couple hundred dollars. We refused opiates. Tylenol was all that was needed day 1 and part of day 2 , but we are told that is rare.

Actually recovery is much easier the younger you are. Also, in our case all 4 were impacted and there was significant risk with waiting too long.

My senior had his done this fall. Not every kid has a crazy schedule. He had his done on a Friday which was a day off anyway. I let him stay home on Monday. He didn't have any pain, just some swelling.

DS had his surgery on a Tuesday morning. Got home around 11 am and slept most of the day with ice on his face. We stayed on top of pain meds. Wednesday he stayed home all day icing and relaxing, doing low-key stuff. Thursday he hung out with friends all day and went out Thursday night. Was pretty sore Friday. In the end I would say he wasn't "back to normal" until at least a full week had passed. He had minimal swelling, mild bruising on one side and he healed well. But had issues opening his mouth for a couple weeks. The most important things to do is over hydrate the days leading up to surgery, ice the heck out of the face for 2-3 days after surgery, and stay ahead of the pain.

It really varies. Mine took close to five days. That was longer than we were told.

less than a day. she had enchiladas for dinner.

It depends on how complicated the procedure is. If they are severely impacted, general anesthesia. It takes 2-3 days to feel better from the pain and another few days to be less careful about eating. In my case the anesthesia and pain meds made me sick and I was much better hanging out in some pain without the drugs in my system.

Wow, maybe my kids are wimps but I would say they each needed a week. Most pain the first few days, but had a lot of swelling and didn't feel like eating much. They both had it done over the summer.

Both mine had it in the summer. I believe around day 4-5 they felt better but they couldn’t eat normally for a bit longer.

Just do it in the summer.

Do most kids nowadays get the anesthesia for the procedure?
