Subject: Help! Meeting with jerk VP this week
can you record the meeting? If you are in DC it is a 1 person consent and you are the 1 person.
Next step - be prepared. If you are supposed to have a deck that talks about X. Make sure you have it.
Have an objective stated that this is about X. When he asks about Y state that it was not the objective, you are happy to end the meeting and get a response.
Other than that, you already figured out an approach to stand your ground - and the grey rock approach is a great tip.
Say as little as possible.
Give yourself time to frame responses - in my experience the moments of silence are triggers to people like this - so use this approach but be prepared for the response.
Do not lose sleep over this - it is not worth it.
