I never understood why anyone would frequent a barber that cut someone’s scalp “while cleaning up the edges/lines” no thank you.

No edge or line needs to be that clean.

It says theoretical risks exist not that anyone ever got HIV from a barber.

Has anyone ever gotten HIV from getting a haircut? And since the virus doesn’t live outside of the body for more than a few seconds, even if it is theoretically possible for it to happen, wouldn’t the time alone that it takes to spray the tools be enough to kill the virus? I mean with all there is to worry about, this would never hit my radar screen. I’d just be thankful that my kid is taking care of his personal grooming.

Sorry you are going through this. Can you teach him to cut his own hair and buy him all the equipment he needs? Will save so much money in the long run if he gets the hang of it and takes a liking to it. Maybe present the idea like you think he'd have a knack for it and let him cut your hair one time just to boost his confidence.

If it were my son (whose 17 yo), I'd probably have to take him, his first time to a new barber. Your son might feel uncomfortable going some place new unless it is the case that his current barber knows exactly what your son wants. But if my son still didn't want me to take him someplace new, then I'd let him be after mentioning my health/saftey concerns just once or twice.

The new styles that require the very short cut and clean edges is pushing barbers to cut even closer. It’s dangerous.
