What??? It’s wonderful, a true family run local joint. They are so nice there. Agree Mclean overall could use better options but family restaurant is one of those institutions.
My understanding is that redevelopment plans are in the works for Mclean but that’s been the case for a long time so who knows about the timing. I think there’s a lot that has to do with the few companies that own commercial real estate in Mclean.
The thing is…more development and trendy restaurants will also bring more traffic so it’s a mixed blessing. I kind of like slightly shabby Mclean. It’s easy to drive to Falls Church or Mosaic.
Have you been to Aracosia? So good

These are very niche places and Chiang Mai has like 2 tables.

I guess, but no one wants to drive to Vienna from McLean to pick up dinner. Vienna has so many places, including national chains, which are useful sometimes. McLean hardly has any contemporary casual places, and doesn’t even have a regular ice cream store.

A few to try if you haven’t yet: Chiang Mai, Aracosia, Masala, and Dal Grano. I haven’t heard much about Divan but would like to try - and will check out Matchbox eventually. Not sure what forces limit more restaurant options in McLean. Rents may be too high. That building where McL Organic Butcher is has been mostly vacant for over 5+ years, long before Covid.

I believe the Chesterbrook Center is getting a South Block, which is nothing fancy, but McLean is long past do for an açaí bowl place (and a decent place for a smoothie…ugh Tropical Smoothie). I believe there is also a restaurant going into that standalone building on the far right hand (south) side of the parking lot. They are at least making it more architecturally interesting.
I hear the other poster on Mylos. The food isn’t that bad, but the interior is dark and dirty. So not what I am looking for.
So maybe there is some progress around the edges.
