I am Italian. I believe medical school in Italy (6 years) is as good (if not better) than medical school in the US. An Italian doctor who now has an important position at GW hospital, did his medical school in Italy. He could not get into the resedency program in Italy (it’s very very hard). Tried a few years and then came to the US. Had to take 3 very difficult exams, but was able to get into the residency program here in the US. He was very smart apparently and now he is doing much better than he could have ever hoped for in Italy…
