Sorry, yes, PP did mention Nysmith, not Green Hedges. If there’s language about it in the enrollment info, my guess is they signed something without actually reading all of it or just forgot it was in there. Hard to imagine a school posting kids’ photos w/o permission, it really is a huge, legally problematic issue if they are. PP, you should still be able to contact the school to confirm the situation and revoke the permissions if you do not want your child’s photo posted.

PP referenced Nysmith, in which case you did sign a waiver re: photos (its in the enrollment info)....

If they are truly posting w/o your permission that is a huge deal and a red flag. Double check you didn’t sign something g accidentally, or request in writing that your child’s image not be posted publicly and revoke any previous permissions. I’ve never seen a school not take that seriously, so if Green Hedges really is doing that, it’s a problem.

It’s not private. It’s a public account. I have kids at the school and there are photos of them posted on it all the time. Without our permission.

Just jumping in -- it's likely that you signed a waiver re: your student's image in your new student paperwork. I can't imagine they missed that important piece of paperwork. At Flint Hill at least, there is a form within new student paperwork that asks if you are OK with the school using your child's image. (Source: I work at FH and we make sure the staff knows about the "do not photo" students in their classes.)

FH after school / extended day program is great. Our child really enjoys the extra time to play with friends and gets to know quite a number of kids from other grades. The young adults overseeing it really seem to enjoy the children and are very engaged. I’d pay the price for it just to come 30 min later to avoid the pickup line at regular dismissal.

Langley is warm.

You should talk to current families. I see all of the time on here how stressful it is, but out experience has been the exact opposite. It is incredibly nurturing and warm. Kids are supported and encouraged to work together. They’ve made a lot of schedule changes over the last few years to keep stress and time crunches to a minimum. The lower school is truly magical yet kids feel ready and excited to go to middle school. Intermediate school has been the favorite division for all of my kids.

FH Lifer here-our son started in K and we regret not enrolling him in the JK program at FH. The teachers are phenominal and they go above and beyond to make it a fun and extremely enriching environment. Those kids do so many fun outings and field trips. I don't think you would regret enrolling your child there.

My son is in 8th grade this year and we are extremely relieved we do not have to go through the hassle of having him apply to many different schools. It's a much simpler process to apply for JK as opposed to older grades.

Curious why you didn’t apply to Potomac? We looked at all of those and felt like Potomac was in a different league. We were lucky to get in and have been very happy. Maybe apply there down the road?

It is an extremely small school without much in terms of facilities. You should definitely tour it and see for yourself if it would be a good fit for your child. As the grades go up the classes get smaller and smaller. Their graduating class last year (8th grade) had around 9 students.
