I took PP's statement to mean that she recommends that OP get a tutor for her child, not that PP's kid is using a tutor.

Agree. If she needs a tutor to be accelerated she shouldn’t be accelerated.

I actually dont agree with this. I have experienced something unusual with my kids.
Kid A not identified as gifted, I worked prealgebra with them and some days was a struggle....got As...all of a sudden in middle and HS went from avergae math student to getting 100 on all tests--we have a tutor but used like an hour a month if that.
Kid B maxed NNAT and Cogat-like 99 in everything, got all questions right on Olympiads but now in middle school is totally zoning out in class, only interested in friends and will be getting them tutor when they start algebra next year to make sure they edn up with an A.

Giftedness is only maybe 50 percent, ability to prioritize where your attention goes...pay attention is so much more.

And no Kid B doesnt have ADHD--just hyperfocused on friend drama now..
