We are zoned for Mosaic, and in the AAP program. I'd agree with some of the negative assessments of Mosaic already posted (huge school, due to that the school limits parental involvement... principal is a good manager but doesn't make parents or kids feel welcome). That said, I doubt, given some of the previous information presented, that DR will offer the same academic experience for Level IV. And I actually think the social environment for kids at Mosaic is great -- it's so huge and diverse, there is very little bullying, everyone is able to find their "people" etc. So that's a huge plus. Unfortunately, IMO, the 4th grade AAP teachers at Mosaic aren't fantastic, so you will be starting in on a low note. Things should improve in 5th and 6th, as long as you're willing to put up with trailers.

DD2 is liking her AAP experience thus far at PES. As far as I know, there is a single 3rd grade AAP classroom with 22 or 23 kids. She tells me that three or four kids come into the class in the mornings for (advanced) math. AART has been top-notch for both of my kids.

We moved DD1 to Mosby-Woods-pre-Mosaic for AAP prior to PES having a full Level IV offering. She nearly completed her 6th grade year there at MWES before the COVID shutdown. DD2 is now in her first AAP year at PES (3rd grade).

Both schools have a similar percentage of kids get admitted to AAP. The difference is that the Providence kids are much more likely to stay in the LLIV, whereas the Daniels Run kids are more likely to attend Mosaic. Providence has an excellent AART and offers Science Olympiad, MOEMS, and some other things like that, so that might be the reason more kids are staying there.

What does Daniel Run offer, if anything?

Question question, does Providence ES then group Level 4 students in a separate classroom, or do they offer an integrated classroom for levels 1-4 with differentiated instruction?

I love the community feel of the school, and the setting is amazing. We have a visit coming up. Mosaic is closed to visitors, but they will have an AAP orientation tomorrow. We will have to see

Sorry, OP... I don't. But here's a data point for you. Looking at the enrollment under the school profile, there were 16 qualified students who appear to have stayed at DR for LLIV in 2021-22-- that's across 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. So an average of 4 kids per grade; so they would clearly be in the minority in the LLIV classroom. It seems to be trending upward, though, so perhaps it will be more like 5-6 kids by next year.

DR was my kids' base school but did not offer LLIV when we were there (LLIV did not start there until 2019/class of 2028). I wish they had. My kids went to the AAP center at Mosaic AAP (then Mosby Woods) and, frankly, had a terrible experience. Classes were huge. They were in trailers two years in a row. There were 1.5 guidance counselors for 1100 kids. The social environment was... not good. Teachers were hit or miss - some great, some awful (sadly, my daughter had one of the awful ones for 4th grade). It was just a huge, impersonal school with an institutional feel. It's been a few years, but I doubt things have changed much.

DR is smaller with better facilities, and it definitely felt more like a neighborhood school. I hope someone can provide you with feedback on the LLIV program. Can you ask on your neighborhood Facebook page or news group? For what it is worth, I know a number of people in my kids' grade who stayed at DR (turning down AAP) and were happy with the decision.

Me too, but I thought they did a great job with that shopping center. That area was beyond hope when I was a kid, but now it seems nice. I mean all this in the nicest way. I loved going to the drive-in etc.
