I can’t do it working from home and also making time for strength. I shoot for 8000 since that is thought to be all that’s really needed. I can hit that.

I’m a nanny and get 25-30k steps a day at work. On weekends, I get maybe 4-5k and then I do the treadmill for 30 mins to get the rest. I really recommend a treadmill. You can watch and episode and then you’re done!

I got an under the desk elliptical machine. fitbit won't be able to count my movements, but it's much easier to get some exercise in while I work.

Housework (laundry, straightening up, cleaning kitchen) and a 3 mile walk.

I only get 10K steps if I am very intentional about going for walks. The downfall of a sedentary job.

i do try to get up and walk around my building, but that only helps so much.

I find it hard too.

Right now we are doing a steps challenge at work and one woman has logged between 16000 and 25000 steps every day! She has an office job so she isn't getting those steps all in at work. I feel like I move quite a bit and I usually get 7000-9000. I travelled recently where we walked most of the day and I got about 16000-20000 a day. But that was walking all day around a city.

The run alone knocks out the 10k for the day before I even go about the rest of my day.

You must have amazing knees. I'm 54 and can barely eke out a couple 10Ks annually.

Maybe do not mention this to your manager...

I don't have a "manager." And nobody should feel bad about getting up from their desk. Its healthy and you shouldn't be sitting all day anyhow, for a whole variety of different reasons.

I totally get this. I live in an apt and on my WFH days, I hardly move around at all. But at my office, between kitchen, cafeteria, bathroom, meetings, I'm getting so many more steps in. I walk two miles RT to my office and do an additional loop to get my daughter to school but hover around 6-8. 10 is really tough on a workday.

I recommend a treadmill if you don't like going outside at night. I often WAH and I can take breaks and walk for like 10 minutes at a time. It also helps for when the weather is bad. Each walk gives me about 1000 steps, plus I get more if I walk around doing chores in my house, walk to or from school to pick up my kids.

I'm not counting steps. I walk 5 miles on the treadmill 6 days per week (takes 65 or 70 minutes, covers 2200 vertical feet) and I do 150-200 reps each of arms and abs. This seems like it will at least balance whatever harm my sedentary desk job does even if it's not a lot of activity.

30 minutes before work, 45 mins at lunch, hills where possible, 30 minutes after work, stairs at home. I get it in somehow. I just got back from 30 in the rain. Refreshing.

I work in a school. I often get 10,000 steps a day just during a typical day.

OP here: Work from home. I do strength training most mornings between getting kids off to school and work.
Lunch is my walk. I'm measuring with iPhone app. I'm doing a 3 mile hour walk. I'll try increasing speed and add an extra few blocks to get into Rock Creek.
I'm already doing close to 1.5 hours of exercise a day and consider myself super lucky. Was just curious how others find ways to get in the steps.
