Thank you for the positive and kind words. At 63 it's pretty surprising how quickly he's losing weight with just lifestyle changes. I think it helps that he's keeping things simple, basically "rinse and repeat" which takes the guesswork out of it.

As of today he's down another pound! 16 and counting

Very nice! Good job to him!

Can you find mine too please? I'd like to lose them

I did none of that. Took metformin and dropped 15 lbs. i am still slightly prediabetic though so i do need to kick the carbs and the snacks.

63. When he retires in a few years we plan to travel, so this makes me so happy that he is finally putting himself first.

That’s awesome. I hope he keeps it up!

He has struggled with his weight for the last several years (50lbs gained over the last 25 years) never making it longer than one week on a "diet". And by "diet" I mean just cutting back, making better choices, and regular exercise. He had his annual physical exactly one month ago, and he was devastated by the results but not surprised. High BP, high cholesterol, fatty liver, borderline diabetes, and of course the scale didn't lie. That is all he needed for his wake up call - and I'm so happy and relieved.

The changes he's made:
1) zero snacking, especially after dinner with his back and forth trips to the kitchen
2) cut way back on carbs. He's eating mostly eggs for breakfast, salads with chicken for lunch and a small portion of nuts. and dinner is another protein with a side of veggies.
3) upped his water intake by quite a bit
4) finally started using the Peloton I bought him a year ago - he is on it every day now!

Anyhow just wanted to brag a little, and say how proud I am of him

Just say it to him. I don't know how posting this helps anyone else

Aww, that's a negative reaction and not true. The OP's post is helpful to others.

Guess I am the outlier than but, this isn't motivational to me. Glad it is helpful to some.

Then scroll on past.

You could do the same.

Say it to him if you think it will help. Personally I start spiralling if my husband comments on my weight (even in a good way) because I'm like...did you think I looked bad before? Did I look worse than I thought? What if I gain it back?

That sounds like insecurity and anxiety talking.

PP here. Yeah, I have never taken criticism well, and weight is especially touchy for me because my parents were always commenting on everyone's weight and thought everyone was too fat (including me at a healthy weight). I know this about myself. Luckily, my husband mostly gets it and usually doesn't comment on my weight or my eating.

Yes it helps him, I'm sorry that you would find it triggering. He has a 1 month follow up next week - his MD asked him to try to lose 5lbs before the follow up. My guess is that he will be about 17lbs-18lbs down by then. And I intend to continue being his #1 cheerleader.
