I think it's very important for the public to know what happens in PUBLIC schools.
You don't have a right to know anything that takes place in a PUBLIC school unless it involves YOUR CHILD. Otherwise, it's none of your business. Chillax.
I truly hate to upset you, but you are incorrect. Other parents and community members have the right to know if there's been an event that involved the police.

It’s not a crime for a non-custodial parent to come on school grounds unless there is a specific order of protection.
I don’t know what happened at Barrett. Just addressing your assumption.
They wouldn't be calling the police if not a concerning situation.
I assume it’s a crime for an unauthorized person to be on school grounds and then not leave immediately when asked.
The crazy person is the person who claimed OP had no interest or connection to this situation.
Issues happen at schools ALL THE TIME. It would be exhausting to hear about all of them. No student was in danger, including the OPs. Op and parents like him/her are nosy nellies all about the drama.
I'm guessing the community hasn't been told lots of things in Newport News. Doesn't make it right. Parents have a right to know what's going on when police are called. Better school systems shate information.
Comparing these two scenarios is not even remotely reasonable.

Schools are and should be encouraged to call the police if they are uncertain about something. But that means there will be circumstances where people call the police and it turns out arrest isn’t warranted.
A situation can be concerning but not illegal.

ALSO, I happen to be a parent - you crazy nut.
Crazy nut?? Tax payers have a right to know how things are being handled in public school systems. Newport News comes to mind..
It was the OP calling the person a crazy nut, not the reverse.
