Adding…. And since you have to select four people for the flight, they assume that the four people need to sleep as well

If you are booking a package it’s hard to get around the 4 person per room maximum. Even on Costco travel our family of 4 has to book 2 rooms for European travel because a lot of their available hotels dont house 4 people .

I am in favor of 5 in a room as a family but my DH is a rule follower and was constantly convinced we would be kicked out on the street in the middle of hte night so I got very adept at finding bargains that fit 5 - they are there you just need to keep looking - if you don't want to sneak the baby in

We don’t always book two hotel rooms, but now that our oldest is a teen, we book two cruise cabins. The cost is comparable than one of the rooms that can sleep five or six.

According to DCUM, anything less than a 2br suite for a family and you may as well not even vacation.

(Yes we book hotels that sleep 5 in one room on a budget.)

there is a hotel across the street from penn statino that has suites that take 5 not too expensive, i forget the name - also the kimpton chain has relatively affordable suites - now have 3 teens and squeezing in the baby doesn't work anymore - they are all taller than me

We got a 4 person suite at the Manhattan Club - perhaps they have larger ones there? I agree 5 is a tough number.

So many hotels have rooms with 2 queens and a pull out couch. That's what we do. Use booking.com to find them as they list the room configuration. But book via the hotel's website as Booking.com will sometimes screw you over!

Our favorite family chains:
- Springfield Suites
- Home 2
- Aloft
- Holiday Inn Express

And more...the newer chains tend to be cleaner and more up to date.
