The piercer saw that she was hesitant and yelled, "I won't pierce someone who doesn't want to be pierced". At that point she cried and we left. We went to a Piercing Pagoda later that day and she did fine. They wouldn't refund the $30 for the appointment, either.
I wanted to take my kid there too and am worried about exactly this. The decor and the weirdness.

Brillance in Vienna used to get recommended a lot but I think they are now 13 for a minimum. ABout to give up and just got to the Piercing Pagoda. 7 year old might be freaked at at a Tattoo/Piercing Joint anyway.

Two things:
A - it was good of them to keep the deposit. Too many people flake out on their artists and its lost income. The deposit is for the appointment, not the service.
B - there are TONS of tattoo and piercing places in the DMV that have bright, clean and welcoming designs. I don't know why everyone gets caught up in Craig Poke U, but I see him recommended all the time. But there are enough places that feel more like a hair salon than a tattoo/piercing parlor
