I'm a former educator and sometimes I saw this with staff members. They just had a connection or liked a particular student. I saw one teacher kiss and hug her fav girl student. It's sort of like a grandma role that they take on. When I was young, there were various older people who didn't kiss me, but I definitely got a lot of hugs and a lot of older folks invested in me by talking with me. I guess it depends where and how you grow up. But in general, no one in school is supposed to be putting their hands on the students but usually this is bc they might hit them or hurt them.

If that IS why, I will just point out that my parents strongly disliked me and didn't like spending time with me. It ... didn't inspire my best behavior. Somehow, at my grandparents, I was lovely and we three had a GREAT time together. I never got in trouble there, had tons of fun, everything was beautiful. And my grandma loved me hard enough that I felt it.
