Not defending the attackers at all but it seems that the altercation started over a different issue.
but then it continued with Antisemitic comments. If someone got into a tussle with a gay person not realizing they were gay then they find out they were gay then make anti gay comments during an assault robbery would you question it being a hate crime

Does it? I would need to read the language of whatever the relevant statute says. If the hate crime enhancement is about intent, then it would not be a hate crime.

Those name's sound like he might not be from here... it doesn't sound like a name an African-American has in contemporary times... Moco is a very diverse area... could be a guy with roots in the Caribbean or Africa.
