You’re going to find a mix of parents at every private school in the area. Some will be wealthy, some on financial aid, some will be SAHMs, others will have impressive careers, some will be friendly, down to earth, kind, others stand-offish and full of themselves. If you’re willing to give people a chance, you can likely find your tribe at any of the schools. If you go with pre-conceived notions, you likely won’t.

If you send your kids to an ultra-religious school anyone of them I judge you.

If someone tells me they sent their kid to Liberty University I judge them as stupid.

I found out recently that one of my coworkers went there for undergrad. It immediately changed my opinion of them.

Haha. I arrived to the open house early so I waited in my car. A procession of parents walked by dressed in what I would call, funeral attire. Some women were wearing high heels. To a Sunday open house. I was so embarrassed for them.

I am being judgmental and I don’t care. You can totally tell the difference between the confident normal parents vs the deeply insecure parents who felt they needed to dress to impress.

Honestly, we were nervous about the community when we accepted (less about nervousness about NCRC community specifically and more because it was our first foray into the private school crowd and that didn’t feel like our vibe.)
We chose NCRC for its gold standard inclusion program for kids who benefit from extra supports and it did not disappoint.
I have run into a few parents who could be characters on White Lotus but that is not the norm. Mostly, we’ve found people to be warm, kind, and down to earth. It’s a wonderful school full of caring people and our kids have thrived (including our DD who was diagnosed with global developmental delay as a wee one and is now excelling at a local independent K-12). And we stay away from those whose country club vibes don’t align with our values or interests!
