The Dyson stick v8 is fine for small quick cleanups, but we use our older Dyson canister for. deep cleaning. Amazon battery replacement is the way to go if one’s Dyson stick will not hold a charge.

I don’t care what anyone says, my stick Dyson is a Miracle Worker. I vacuum way more often and my house is way cleaner. The attachments are fun for getting into smaller places or cleaning upholstery.

OP here - thanks for all of the information. Looks like the cordless Dyson isn't a miracle worker but does well for its intended purpose. I disagree, my dyson sticks do just fine. But I don’t have any wall to wall carpet and our wool rugs are…knotted? They’re like oriental, not so shaggy I guess. The Dyson stick is just fine and we send them out periodically to be washed. I don’t think you need a more powerful vacuum unless you have carpet.

I also want to add that I think the “test” of running it after is just because you’re spending more time. To do that test fairly you’d have to run the Dyson stick until it wasn’t picking anything up, then run the upright and see what you get. Or run the stick, then split the rug in half and run the stick again on half and the upright on half and see which one gets more. You’d also have to do them at the same speed and duration.

I thought I was the only one feeling this way with all the hype! I had a canister and now v15 and I am not impressed. Our good old shark does a better job

My Dyson battery went kaput in about 4 years. I bought a new battery off the internet and replaced it myself, but the screw head was a special European type which was almost impossible to open. The stick vac Dyson is great with fine particles on hard wood. It’s not my best vac for rugs or steps. Also, it should pick up larger pieces as pp said, but you have to pick up the unit and place directly over cereal etc. (sometimes multiple times for it to suck it up). As other pp said, you could remove the beater head and use the wand itself as a shop vac, but this is more constant snapping and unsnapping of parts just to vac a small kitchen multiple times a day. I hear good things about Shark vac but I don’t own one.
