Mine would have been thrilled. Instead, she had the roommate who tried to lock her out of the room when her bf came. Thank your lucky stars OP!

She was from Ohio went to a very small religious private. Never went to one class ever.

I saw her twice in 12 weeks. The second semester she never returned. Moved in with her Law school boyfriend. Failed out freshman year.

It was great I had a single. woo hoo.

Did she marry the guy?

In college, I spent basically all my free-time traveling (via walking long distances, cycling, buses, trains, but never flying) and eventually monetized that hobby. Grew up in a very rural area and was so excited to be in a city for college. Maybe your child’s roommate is up to something similar?

Of all the roommates problems, this is not even on the scale.

The roommate is not your kid’s property.

He asked me to pay for a single dorm room before he left for college.

And now he has a single without paying for it. I don't understand your anger/disappointment.

So absurd. I’d be glad they were gone and otherwise fine.

Is your child even upset about this situation, or just you?

Angry? No. The roommate doesn’t owe your kid an explanation for their behavior, and they definitely don’t owe you one. What exactly are you angry about, OP?
