i like it -- i regret not buying one years ago. but i see the point about it being an old person's car. i just recommended to my 80 mom that she consider it.

I drive a 2006 RXh and will drive it into the ground. Only has 150k miles and, with regular appointments at the dealer's service center, hasn't had major issues. I like how quickly it gains speed and the truck/hatchback is a pretty good size.

The RX isn't really an SUV like a Grand Cherokee is. It's a crosover. If you want a Lexus with a true truck platform, you have to get the GX (which is much more comparable) or the LX (which is just way too big).

Anyone who'd be impressed by what you drive is not worthy of impressing, don't you think? Also, at an luxury-SUV buying age, if you are really trying to impress someone, isn't there something wrong with your perception of yourself?

Then why buy a Lexus SUV when a Toyota SUV is the same thing?

I used to say this before I upgraded to Lexus. Not the same thing...trust me. Lexus built much better mechanically and more elegant
all around. Worth the $$ to upgrade from Toyota if you can.

NP. +1. We drove both. Price difference at the time was ~$6,000 more for the Lexus and the upgrades were worth it to us. Not really much different from the question of why you might prefer the Highlander Platinum over the/Limited trim level over the L/LE/XLE. The Lexus RX is like a whole other level of trim with nicer interiors, wheels etc.

RX ugly IMO. I would only purchse GX,LX or even NX.
The older RXs looked much better IMO.

Is it me or does everyone else see most cars getting uglier and uglier?

Too expensive for something you “kind of like” and your DH hates.

If you only Kind of like it, get something else. Something you both really like.

The RX is great. Very reliable, low cost to maintain, lasts forever, comfortable and quiet interior, just the right size for a lot of people. It also holds its value well over time compared to some other brands which drop like a rock in value after 3 years

We have a 2020 RX450h and like it a lot. I think the BMW X5M looks much better and has the performance chops, but I couldn’t stomach the rate of depreciation and frequent pricey repairs after the warranty is up.

One tip: there is a big difference between the base RX and the fully optioned trim level. The “luxury package” of options like heated seats, 360 camera, panoramic roof, triple headlights and nicer real leather seats is worth it in my opinion if it fits your budget.

We really LIKE our Lexus RX 350. We've driven mostly Honda's and Toyota's and really like the upgraded interior of the RX, and it's been very reliable and easy to maintain. The front grill IS off-putting to some, but it doesn't bother us.

I say LIKE because it's not a car that what we would say can be fun to drive/sporty like my in-laws BMW and Audi, which we drive when visiting them on the west coast. The acceleration is more than adequate but the suspension is on the cushier side (which my wife likes) and steering isn't as tight as the BMW and Audi.

If you want a reliable small'ish SUV that drives more like a comfortable car, is entry level luxury... has nice seats/interior you can't go wrong with the RX. If you are looking for something with a little more edge in looks and better acceleration and handling the RX isn't the right choice.

The vast majority of people don't care about cars, period. Most people don't give a crap if you're driving a Porsche or a Scion. The only thing eyebrow raising is how much more money the Porsche owner has available to waste on a car. All cars are money losing, money wastes.

You sound fun at a party. Why are you even reading or posting on this group if you don’t care about cars? People who buy nicer cars actually care about them and don’t consider them a “waste” as it gets used for their enjoyment just like anything else in life.

We have a Lexus SUV and it’s boring to drive, but it’s not my vehicle and does the job well at transporting the family reliability, safely, and comfortably. I have my own cars that are fun and dynamic because I value that.
