Either:
A) It’s self-published and no one will read it or care.
Or
B) You have no merit or basis or saying she’s not influential/famous, or isn’t at the very least a great writer. Getting a memoir published by a legitimate publisher would, at the very least, mean that she’s a good writer; good enough to get an agent, an editor, and a publisher.

So either it’s self-published and is of no consequence, or it was legitimately published, and you are a total ass for not recognizing that either she’s a great writer, or the story itself is really freaking good. Because an “unknown person” getting a memoir published is a feat of either great writing, or being a good storyteller. And for you to dismiss or diminish that is not only appalling, it’s dangerous for you.

If she’s saying someone in my family abused her then yeah I’d definitely want to read it.

My husband is in the military and a guy that he plus others took rpund-the-clock shifts for 3 days to prevent him from committing suicide over his girlfriend leaving him (when he abused her). Got out of the military and wrote a book about his Valor. 0 mention of the suicide attempt and the many men that saved his life.

In other words, I don't believe anyone's memoires and neither should you.
